If so, you might be exactly the kind of person we’re looking for.
The Guinness Project is expanding beyond Barcelona, and we are inviting contributors to become independent Guinness reviewers in their own towns and cities.
This page explains what’s involved, what we expect from reviewers, and how the process works.
What Does a Guinness Reviewer Do?
As a reviewer, you will independently review Guinness Draught in bars in your town or city, using The Guinness Project’s standardised review methodology.
Each review is based on one pint, assessed carefully and honestly using our defined criteria.
Your role is to observe, assess, and report — not to promote, criticise unfairly, or influence outcomes.
Important Conditions for Reviewers
To protect both reviewers and The Guinness Project, the following conditions apply:
Reviewers work independently and are not employees of The Guinness Project
Reviewers are responsible for all personal expenses, including drinks and travel.
Reviews must be submitted honestly and in good faith.
Reviewers must not accept incentives from bars.
Reviewers must not revisit or adjust scores once submitted.
Reviews may be edited for clarity, but not for scoring.
We reserve the right to decline publication of reviews that do not meet methodological or ethical standards.
There’s no application and no approval queue — anyone who scores by the guide can submit. The first time you send us a review, we’ll email you the guide everyone uses, so we’re all judging the same way.
You must not be an employee of a bar or pub, or be connected to Diageo or any other employment related to the production, delivery and serving of Guinness.
How the Review Process Works
The Guinness Project is always interested in hearing from people who care about a properly poured pint and want to help raise standards.
Before getting in touch, there are a few important things to consider.
What Being a Reviewer Involves
- You review Guinness independently in your own town or city
- You use our standardised review criteria to score a single pint
- You submit reviews using our official form
- You pay for your own pint and drink responsibly
- You provide a photo of the receipt as proof of purchase
Responsible Reviewing
Reviewers must:
- Be of legal drinking age
- Drink responsibly and in moderation
- Respect local laws and cultural norms
